It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret
Jean Forbes on July 9, 2022. Our mother was born in Millbrook, Pictou
County, on August 31, 1927.
She was the youngest of five children born to the late John
and Grace (Currie) Nelson.
In 1947 she married George Forbes. Previous to her marriage,
she taught school and in later years, was employed by Scott Maritimes
from where she retired.
She was a member of Little Harbour Presbyterian Church where
she enjoyed many roles including teaching Sunday school. She belonged
to the Ladies Aid and AMS of which she was a life member. She was
active in her community; a founding member of Little Harbour Volunteer
Fire Department and member of the Auxiliary, as well as the Little
Harbour Community Centre.
She is survived by her son, John George (Janet); and her
daughter, Carol Anne (Del). She is also survived by five
grandchildren: Michael (Meagan), David (Marissa), Elizabeth (Steve),
Todd (Emily), and Jillian (Justin); and six great-grandchildren:
Brett, Kate and Alexa Cormier, Luca and Logan Moore-Corkum, Margot
Forbes; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her
husband, George; her parents; brothers: Currie and Robert; sisters:
Alberta and Katherine.
Margaret and George operated Forbes Campground for 8 years
where they met many wonderful people. She also greatly enjoyed the
many trips that she and George made to Florida and the friends they
made there.
We wish to thank her VON team, Palliative Care team, doctors
and caregivers, Florence, Cheryl and Jane.
Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral
Home. A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, July 13,
at Church Brook Cemetery, Little Harbour, with a reception to follow
in the Little Harbour Presbyterian Church Hall. Please mask when you
can to protect the vulnerable. A recording of the service will be
available later Wednesday on the funeral home website. Memorial
donations may be made to Little Harbour Presbyterian Church or

the time to enjoy the people you love.
