Margaret Claire Ritchie ( nee Kendall)
May 2, 1922 – September 2, 2022
Peacefully in her home at Kingsdale Seniors’ Residence, Kingston.
Married to James Douglas Ritchie (deceased), Margaret is survived by her children: Margaret Ritchie, Anne Pyzer (Gary), and Kendall Ritchie (Nancy); her grandchildren: Douglas Bertelsen (Angie), Peter Bertelsen (Sarah), Mara Ostyn (Gilles), Clare Bertelsen, Anil Bertelsen, Chris Pyzer (Kathy), Catherine Vancook (David), Kendall Lewis (John) and Ryan Bregg (Sherry); and sixteen great grandchildren.
Margaret lived, in her words, “a varied and wonderful” life. Born in Alberta, she had also lived in Quebec, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Ontario and Pennsylvania and travelled extensively throughout North America.
With an intelligent and curious nature, Mom lived life well and was always interested in people, places and current events. She continually stretched her mind; graduating from Thorneloe University with an Associate in Divinity degree in her early sixties and completing a Fine Arts diploma from St. Lawrence College in her mid eighties.
An accomplished textile artist, her many hooked rugs and hangings are treasured by family and friends.
We wish to acknowledge and thank her caring and loyal team of PSW’S over the last year of her life. Much appreciation, also, to Kingsdale Chateau for facilitating palliative care within her home community.
A private family burial service will take place at a later date.
