Obituary
Anne’s family is very sad to announce her passing on April 7, 2022. She is predeceased by her dear husband of 50 years, David (2019). She is survived by her much-loved son Iain, daughter-in-law Jaclyn (nee Stewart) and their children Aidan and Fiona. Her wonderful grandchildren were her greatest pleasure and joy. Anne’s only sister, Joan Cranmer of Burlington, is the last of the Cairns family.
Born on the Great Western Rd. in the city of Glasgow, Scotland, Anne emigrated to Canada in 1958. Educated at Milngavie Primary School, Bearsden Academy, Runnymede Collegiate, and the University of Toronto. Anne’s professional career in education as a teacher, Program Leader in Special Education, and Principal took her to a wide array of schools in the former North York and lately the Toronto District School Board. The defining component of her career was her commitment to the children who needed Special Education assistance.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at KITCHING STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME 146 Mill Street N., Waterdown where the Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with refreshments to follow.
