Marc Poirier (Dec 03, 1947 – Oct 28, 2022)
We have lost our Gentle Giant. Marc was a gentle man with a smile and a joke and a love for growing flowers and vegetables in Meadowbrook Greenhouses. He was loved by many and is missed by many.
Marc loved the outdoors and over the years was an avid hunter and fisherman. We think he knew all the rivers, streams, valleys and all the huckleberry patches in the East Kootenays.
He is survived by his wife Eleanor Poirier, daughters Brigitte Poirier (Greg Fraser) of Sicamous, Dawna Yates of Prince George, Nona Samuelson (Urban Samuelson) of Prince George, and 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Kelley Poirier, Cranbook, in December of 2021. He leaves behind his sisters, Gail Newbold of Winnipeg, Cecillia Falke of Kimberley and brothers Leon Poirier of Yellowknife and Yvon Poirier of Kimberley. A private family celebration of life is planned.
Marc believed in helping his community. He grew extra tomatoes in the greenhouse each summer to support the Kimberley Food Bank. In lieu of flowers or gifts please make a donation to the Kimberley Food Bank in his name.
