Obituary
Reunited with his wife Isaura of 64 years, Manuel was a well loved, hard working and creative man. Manuel adored his family and sadly leaves behind his son Paul (Donna) his daughter Susan (Osvaldo) and his grandsons Zachary and Jonathan (Rachel). He is predeceased by his parents Manuel and Joana and his sister Lourdes. He leaves behind his sisters Fatima, Gloria, and Maria and his brother Antonio.
Manuel loved taking photos. His greatest memories were photos he had taken of sailors and soldiers on shore leave during World War 2 in the Azores. Manuel would often reminisce on his pilgrimage to Fatima, Portugal and Madeira after the war. His love for photography was sealed after these adventures. He remained a freelance- photographer for over 60 years. He would capture so many special moments from weddings to communions and anything in between.
He immigrated to Canada with his wife and son in 1965. He worked for TDF Artists, LTD in Toronto as a printer. In 1971, Manuel expanded his interests to a retail business. He purchased a convenience store at the corner of Dufferin and Bloor Streets. It was there where Paul and Susan found and shared their love for chocolates and candy and all things sweet. Later, he finally realized his dream and opened a photography studio on Dundas Street.
Manuel was an avid dominoes player, loved limericks and a good joke. He was a generous man who will be missed by many. His greatest love of all was his wife Isaura, who passed away just 2 months prior to him. They were two peas in a pod then and forever.
Friends and Family will be received at Ridley Funeral Home in Toronto on Saturday April 9, 2022, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. In lieu of flower donations the family asks for donations to the Alzheimer’s society.
