Obituary of Malcolm Frederick Hartling, New Victoria
It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Malcolm Frederick Hartling, 67, of New Victoria on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late Joseph and Molly (Purvis) Hartling.
Malcolm was employed with Devco for over 20 years as an industrial electrician with Lingan, Phalen and Prince Mines. He enjoyed playing chess, darts and bowling.
Surviving are his wife, Leona (Wolfe); daughter, Joanna Lynn Hartling (Chris), Glace Bay; son, Mark Richard (Jenn), Kitchener, ON; brothers, Tommy (Mel), Calgary, AB, James (Cathy), Monastery, NS, Carl, Sackville, NS; sister, Violet (George) Maplebeck, New Minas, NS; three grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew and James; two great-grandchildren, Zoey and Ainslie; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, John Joe and sisters, Joanne and Mary.
There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
