Malcolm lived in Kirkland, NB with his wife Barbara on the Monument Rd, having taken up residence there for the past 30 years as a beef farmer. His parents were the late Perley and Ella Stairs of Stairs Hill, NB.
He leaves behind his wife of 49 years Barbara (Palmer), his two sons Matthew (Stephanie) and Adam (Cassandra). He had two grandsons Nathan and Kyle and a granddaughter Mackenzie
He is survived by his sisters Evelyn Hogan, Carolyn Greer, Shelli (Jack) Hansen and Kelli (Timothy) Lawson. His brothers Meredith, Marcus (Viola), and Gary (Barbara)
He is predeceased by his brothers, Alton (Muriel) and Archie (Ruth) and several brothers-in-law and sister-in-law. He will be by a great number of nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Malcolm was diagnosed with Lung cancer a few months ago and was currently undergoing chemotherapy. An unforeseen massive stroke took his life prematurely from us.
Our deepest praise and thank you’ s go out to the staff of the URVH, for their kindness, caring and attentiveness to us. Thank you to Dr. Parveen for her quick action in getting help and support. Thank you’ s for Dr. Connors of the oncology department of the Dr. Chalmers hospital and all the associated staff.
A special thank you to the nurses of the oncology dept of the URVH. You made him feel special and important. Our love goes out to the family and friends who have given their support at this time we will all miss him greatly.
Malcolm amazed people with his good attitude about his cancer. Since surviving his last bout with cancer almost 18 years ago, he lived with the motto “if, when, & where.” He would tell anyone, if he was able to get up in the morning and put on his pants he lived to see another day. He ticked off a great many people by saying “You’re only going to live until you die”. Even at home he was determined to do his share of the work as long as he was able with baling hay and regular chores on the farm.
Malcolm’s wishes were that he be cremated his ashes returned home to be disposed of when the family felt the time was right. There were to be no services and anyone wishing to, could come to out home and visit. Thank you for respecting are decisions.
He wanted any donations in his memory to please be made to the River Valley Cancer Support Group INC.
