Maja Lynne Hipkin Tuesday September 13th 2022

Maja Lynne Hipkin, born April 21, 1976, was a very special and truly loved life partner, daughter, sister, aunt and friend of so many. She passed away suddenly in Calgary, Alberta on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 due to a pulmonary embolism.
Maja was a loving daughter to Marg and Ken Hipkin, sister to Sandra and Aaron Clark and Leslie and Dan Hutchinson and niece to her special Auntie Pat Yelf (predeceased). Maja was an extraordinarily special aunt to Matthew and Joshua Hutchinson and Taylor and Dylan Clark. Maja recently moved from Hamilton to Calgary with her partner David Lemstra where they were working and enjoying many mountain adventures. Maja was a joyful addition to the Lemstra family, parents John and Anne, siblings Wes and Lindsay Lemstra and Alexa and Eric Wildschut, and five nieces and nephews.
Maja, a wise ‘old soul’ from a very young age, was an excellent student, helper and friend. She spent her childhood and attended elementary and secondary school in Grimsby. After earning her Honours B.A. in Geography and B.Ed. at Queen’s University, she enjoyed working with various non-profit organizations including Katimavik, Hamilton’s City Kidz, Cave Springs Camp and Camp Ganadaoweh. Maja was the general manager at Adventureworks for five years and a co-ordinator and manager for Stephen Lewis and AIDS-Free World for fourteen years. She was involved with numerous local charities such as Welcome Inn Community Centre, Help-Portrait, Gulu Walk, Micah House, Run for Cancer and many others. Through her education, work and volunteerism, Maja made many dear friends across Canada and the world.
A celebration of Maja’s life will be held by her family and friends on Saturday, September 24 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church, Grimsby. The service will be live-streamed via the church website. Visitors will be received Friday, September 23 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Stonehouse-Whitcomb Funeral Home in Grimsby and at 10 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
Friends are invited to share cherished memories on the Memory Wall on how Maja was apart of their lives (see Memory Wall tab above).
If you wish to honour her legacy, please donate to Welcome Inn Community Centre or McNally House Hospice in Maja’s name.
Maja, we love you beyond measure, forever and always.
