Madeline (Johnson) Comeau
1941-2022
RICHIBUCTO, NB – Madeline Comeau, 81, of
Richibucto, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September
5th, 2022. Born in Saint-Charles, she was the
daughter of the late André and Domithile (Richard)
Johnson.
At a very young age, Madeline made her way to Ottawa to work
in a religious convent for many years and later in life, worked labor
for Connors Brothers until her retirement. Madeline had a love for
life and for her family and friends. She was known as the jokester
amongst her second family, the residents at her apartment building on
Cunard street, where she had been living for the past 15 years, since
moving from Blacks Harbour. Madeline loved playing bingo, cards and
absolutely loved music and dancing.
Madeline leaves to mourn her two daughters, Delia Proulx
(Joe) of Blacks Harbour and Joanne Comeau of Richibucto; her chosen
son, Gerald Surette of Moncton; her six grandchildren, Jessica, Tara,
David, Marc and Lana and her seven great-grandchildren.
Madeline will also be sadly missed by her two sisters,
Rose-Mai Gallant (late Vincent) of Richibucto and Yvette
“Zoe” LeBlanc (late Celime) of Rexton; her six brothers,
Albert Johnson (Lorraine), Emile Johnson (late Jeannette), both of
Richibucto, Baptiste Johnson (Linda), Leo Johnson (Annette), both of
Saint-Charles, Lorenzo Johnson (Lianne) of Grand-Barachois and
Joe-Louis Johnson (Pierrette) of Quispamsis; her brother-in-law, Eric
Thibodeau of Rexton; as well as by her many nieces and
nephews.
Besides her parents, Madeline was predeceased by her husband,
Yvon Joseph Comeau; her son, Joseph and her sister,
Thérèse Thibodeau.
Visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, Richibucto
Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am until departure
for the funeral. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday,
September 10th, 2022 at 10:30 am,
Saint-Charles-Borromee Roman Catholic Church,
Saint-Charles.
