BANNISTER, Madeline – Passed peacefully away at Glenbrook Lodge surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, Madeline Bannister age 94 years. Born in Brewley, Placentia Bay, NL. Predeceased by her husband Frederick Bannister; parents: Peter and Ellen Traverse; sisters: Katherine Leonard and Rose Best; brothers: Anthony, Jerome and Eric Traverse. Leaving to mourn her children: Fred (Gerada), Roy (Heather), Eric (Cathy), Cyril, Ruby Hearn (Francis), Judy Chaytor (Dave), David and Brian; grandchildren: Michael, Scott (Alice), Matthew (Maryline), Danielle (Chris), Robert, Corinne (Shannon), Nicole, Lindsey (Chris), Kelly (Kyle), Christopher, Ashlee and Sonia (Dustin); great grandchildren: Lilly-Lynn, Connor, Chloe, Ava, Jessica, Adrian, Jasmine and Ethan; brother Martin Traverse; sister Helen Norman (Mike); sisters-in-law: Josephine Traverse and Evelyn Morgan; as well many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Thank you to Rev. Lynn Courage and Elizabeth Wareham for always being there for mom with visits and comforting words. Also special thanks to the nurses and staff at Glenbrook Lodge for their care and compassion.
Mom was a very beautiful, warm, kind and generous lady, who opened up her heart and home to everyone.
Visitation to be from Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue on Friday from 2:30pm to 6:30pm. Alert Level 4 COVID restrictions to be followed. Funeral service to be held from Barrett’s Mount Pearl Chapel on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. For those who cannot attend the service will be live streamed. To register to attend in person please call Barrett’s at 364-1937 between 9am to 5pm. Interment to follow at The Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
