She is survived by her daughter, Jocelyne Doucet, Hammonds Plains; Suzanne (David) Pothier, Upper Wedgeport; Jacqueline (Brian) Doucet, Wellington (Halifax Co.); 11 grandchildren, Kevin (Crystal) Pandoli-Bent, Connecticut; Mireille Pandoli, Massachusetts; Danielle (Scott) Pandoli-Andrews, Atlanta; Christopher Pandoli, Massachusetts; Patrick Tibbo, Halifax; Angelique (Chad) Doucet-Tibbo, Halifax; Christopher (Jennifer) Pothier, Wedgeport; Maryse Pothier, Upper Wedgeport; Jean Claude (Crystal) Pothier, Lower Wedgeport; Marc Joycey, Wellington (Halifax Co.); Nicole Joycey, Saint John, NB, as well as by 12 great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Doucet, and her daughter, Françoise Doucet-Pandoli, as well as by brothers, Constant, François, André, Jean and Léon, and her sisters, Jeanne, Suzanne, Antoinette and Juliette. Madeleine was born in Saint Pierre et Miquelon, and as a young adult volunteered during the second World War with Engagés Volontaires Français Libres as a Morse Code decoder in Washington, DC. Madeleine was an inquisitive person with a curiosity for learning. She enjoyed knitting and supplied the family with socks, mitts and hats which she gave every Christmas. She had a dry sense of humour and a quick wit. She was always ready “to beat you” at cards and looked forward to playing Bridge every week with the girls. The family will remember Madeleine as a gardener in her earlier days; her love of music throughout her life, an avid reader, a great cook and her joy of sketching, especially her family and friends. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 12 from Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, Wedgeport, Deacon Bruce Hubbard officiating. The family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the service. Please note that all attendees are asked to use the side entrance of the church. In keeping with provincial Covid guidelines, attendance/seating will be limited to a maximum of 50 people (proof of double-vaccination required), with priority being given to the family. The wearing of masks and social distancing guidelines must be observed. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. You may leave messages of condolence for the family or sign the online guestbook at www.huskilson.net.
