Madalene Beverly (McNutt) Richard – 86, Bible Hill,
passed away peacefully on Monday, January 31, 2022 after a brief stay
in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, following a stroke. Mom
was born in Nuttby to the late Leonard and Avis (Corbett)
McNutt.
After love at first sight, she married Stephen on April 11,
1955 and they enjoyed 66 years together of life, laughter, and love.
She was the best mother to two children, Monica (Dale) Bennicke and
Darrell “Butch” (Brenda). She was very proud of her beloved
grandchildren, Tyler (Jasmine), Sarah (Justin), Joshua (Reanne), Jenni
(Spencer) and four great grandchildren, Chloe and Thea, Millie and
Cliff. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Laura,
Ruth, and Blanche as well as many loving nieces and
nephews. Along with her parents, Mom was predeceased by her
sisters, Marjorie and Lenora; brothers, George, Clifford, and
Corbett.
Mom enjoyed so many friends, special neighbours, and family
living on Hillcrest Avenue, Bible Hill, for most of her married life.
She retired from CIBC in 1992. “Maddie” (as the girls knew
her) was a member of Bible Hill Fire Brigade Ladies Auxiliary for over
40 years. In her retirement years she enjoyed Seniors Bowling and
spending time with her family. She was well known for her biscuits and
fudge; anyone visiting never left hungry. She was loved by
everyone who knew her.
Special thanks to her neighbour, Sharon and to all the staff
that provided compassionate care at Colchester East Hants Health
Centre, especially Dr. Julie M., Jenna, Joleen, Patti, Debbie,
Melissa, Dr. Surette and Dr. Henderson. We are eternally
grateful.
If so desired, donations in Madalene’s memory to
Colchester East Hants Hospital Foundation, Bible Hill Cemetery,
Colchester East Hants Hospice Society or charity of choice are
welcomed. In true Madalene fashion, doing a kind deed for someone else
would be very meaningful.

Catholic Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro, Father Andrew Remarczyk
