MacMILLAN, James Malcolm
August 1, 1959 — January 31, 2022
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of James “Jamie” MacMillan on January 31, 2022.
Jamie is survived by his wife Carla Waters; brother Rob (Donna); sister Cathy MacMillan Sihoe (Chris); brother-in-law Jason Waters (Camila); parents-in-law Wayne and Marion Waters; niece Lindsay; nephews Andrew, Emmett, and Cohen. Jamie was predeceased by parents John and Shirley.
Jamie was born and raised on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Powell River, BC. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Forestry at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, and went on to become a Registered Professional Forester. The early years of his career were spent on Vancouver Island and the BC Coast. Following a move to the BC Interior, he continued in the forest industry in the communities of Barriere, Vernon and Salmon Arm. In later years, Jamie moved to Calgary, AB to work in the oil and gas industry. Throughout his career, Jamie was always excited to bring innovative ideas and complex projects through to a successful conclusion.
Jamie was a kind and generous man. He had a wonderful sense of humour and would strike up a conversation with anyone he met. Jamie loved to share stories with others. Nothing pleased him more than enjoying a meal and glass of wine with family and friends. Passionate about the outdoors, he was most at home on the water and always eager to go hunting, fishing, hiking, and cycling. Jamie loved to travel and always looked forward to a new adventure.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
