Obituary of Lynn Vance
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful Mother, Nana, and Mother In-Law, Lynn Margaret Vance (Hirst), of Merigomish, Nova Scotia. She passed peacefully at 65 years old, on the 22nd of February, 2022, at the home of her daughter in Stellarton, with her loving family by her side. She faced a short but extremely courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Lynn was the daughter of the late Nellie and Bernard Hirst of Clarence, NS. She is survived by her loving Daughter Meryl Kerr-Polley, Son In-Law Ryan Polley, Grandchildren Autumn Kerr-Nicholson and Brady Polley, as well as all of her wonderful friends, but especially Valda, Annie and Bonita who were her soul sisters. Lynn was predeceased by both of her parents.
Lynn was born in Halifax on January 15th 1957, but grew up in the little community of Clarence in Annapolis County, on a small farm where she spent most of her time with her beloved horse, Princess. After finishing high school, she moved back to Halifax where she studied to become a secretary, and worked a few different jobs before securing her career with the Federal Government EI department in 1982, where she worked for 35 years, and retired in 2017, from the New Glasgow office. She moved to the 245 Sunrise Trail in 2002, and after retiring from her government position, she started working at her most treasured job the LBR Convenience store just down the road from her. It was there she was able to meet the whole community, and make some really wonderful friends that she cherished deeply.
Anyone who knew Lynn knew that the joy and light of her life was her Daughter Meryl, her wonderful Grandchildren Autumn and Brady, and her Son In-Law Ryan who she truly viewed like her own child. She loved her 3 cats Chester, Ming, and Otis so much, and was devastated when she lost them, but they are finally reunited again. Lynn loved wildlife beyond measure, especially foxes, coyotes and raccoons, and whenever you see one I know she would love it if you thought of her. She loved her gardens, the beach, and her little piece of paradise which was her home in Merigomish. She adored her Ex-Husband and love of her life, Bill, and I know how happy she was to have reconnected in friendship after all these years, and of course all of her friends, you were her chosen family, and I know how fiercely she loved you all.
Lynn will always be remembered for her kindness, compassion, love of life, and wildlife, and she will be so missed by everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.
The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to her wonderful doctor who has always gone above and beyond, Dr. John Chiasson of Antigonish, the VON, and the Palliative Care Until at the Aberdeen Hospital, with special thanks to Ardis Smith and Dr. Jazrawi. Also big thanks go to the Kiaser-Derrick’s and especially Catriona for always being our second family, and helping us through everything, we could never have gotten through what life has thrown at us without you all. All of your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Eagles Funeral Home, and in keeping with her wishes there will be no funeral, but a Celebration of Life on July 23rd 2022 at the Merigomish School House Community Center with times to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hope for Wildlife in Seaforth, NS, it was near and dear to her heart.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Lynn
