Lynda Beatty nee Jarrett 2022

Born July 1, 1949. Lynda’s journey on earth ended Tuesday June 21, 2022 at North York General Hospital, with her sons by her side to the end. Daughter of the late Arthur and Hilda Jarrett, daughter-in-law to the late Chester and Margaret Beatty. Predeceased by her beloved husband Norman. Loving and ever-patient mother to Alan (Lindsay-Erin) and Jonathan (Jacqueline). Her greatest delights were her grandchildren – Nathaniel, Julia, Sophia, and Maya, each of whom will carry her memory forward. She leaves bereft brothers Robert (Janis) and Murray, nephew Stephen (Jenn) and niece Lesley. Well-informed by her degree in Geology from University of Toronto, Lynda would ensure that every child who brought her a rock would leave knowing what “igneous” meant! Lynda loved her home life, helping her boys and her garden prosper. Jigsaw puzzles could be found under the dining room tablecloth. Her appetite for crosswords was unparalleled, despite her boys trying to “help”. Summers were filled with card games at Grandview Lodge on Sparrow Lake, Norman’s softball games and playing darts. Winter was where her passion for her children truly shone, sitting rink-side as they played. A great lover and baker of sweet treats, Lynda never refused a butter tart. But her greatest joy was spending time on the water – sailing at the Lake in the hot summer sun, boating through locks with friends, and especially grand cruises with her lifelong love, Norman. We hope they are already planning their next adventure together.
We are indebted to the excellent ICU nursing staff at North York General, whose compassion for both patients and families in their care made Lynda’s transition so peaceful. While flowers are appreciated, Lynda’s family encourages friends and family to consider a donation to Jumpstart, or a charity of their choosing.
Visitation will take place Saturday June 25th, 3 to 5 pm, Morley Bedford Funeral Home (159 Eglinton Ave W). Followed by a Funeral service that will take place on Sunday June 26th, 12 pm at Morley Bedford followed by a burial at Mount Pleasant Cemetery and a reception. Zoom link below
I will not be cheated out of enjoying life’s pleasures – the people I meet, the food I eat, the sunshine in the trees, the company of a friend.

  1. My condolences on your loss. I have many happy memories of your parents at the cottage in Honey Harbour next to my parents Roy and Winn.
Your mother love to fish off the dock and did catch many fish, my Dad could not figure out how she did it. I always keep the special time at the cottage in my mind, and pictures..
