Obituary of Lydia Cathern Friesen
Lydia Cathern Friesen – 1935 – 2022
Lydia passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday September 7, 2022 at the age of 87. Lydia loved deeply and was deeply loved.
Beloved wife and best friend to John Friesen for 66 years. Loving mother to Kathy, Marv (Brenda), Jim (Joanne). Devoted grandmother to Sherrie (Levi) Tiessen, Teresa Friesen, Melissa (Corey)Thompson, Grace Friesen, Katie (James) Tulloch, John (Chantel Millar) Friesen, Robert (Beth Ens) Friesen and cherished great grandmother to Bethany, Toby, Freddy, Wesley, Jason and Quinn.
Lydia loved spending time with her family! Lydia was devotedto her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as was evident by her boundless energy and caring ways which werecherished by everyone. Lydia also enjoyed travelling! In her later years her and John spent many winters in Florida where she enjoyed walking, entertaining, and playing cards with friends.
Lydia was a long-time and active member of the Vineland United Mennonite Church. Lydia enjoyed participating in Sunday School teaching, piano playing, and serving others with the Women’s Christian Endeavour Group and as a deacon.
A celebration of Lydia’s life will take place at Vineland United Mennonite Church on Monday September 12, 2022 at 11am. Family interment will take place prior to the service. Visitation will take place on Sunday September 11, 2022 from 6pm – 8pm at the Vineland Chapel of Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King St. Vineland.
In memory of Lydia, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee or the Vineland United Mennonite Home.
