Obituary
Luigi Brandino
June 03, 1938 – July 21, 2022
With heavy hearts, the Brandino family announces the passing of Luigi Brandino of Carleton Place on July 21, 2022 at the Carleton Place Hospital at the age of 84. Best friend and husband to Susan Brandino (nee Nash) of Carleton Place. Beloved dad to Melissa McDiarmid (Keith) of Carleton Place, Alexa Ives (Andy) of Manotick and Ben (Jacquie) of Carleton Place. Cherished grandfather ‘Poppy’ to Jermey, Sydney, Connor, Ethan, Pyper, Contessa and Sawyer. Luigi was also lucky enough to have a great grandchild, Bentley, who brought him so much joy. Beloved Zio to Fabiana (Italy) and Carlo (Florida). Luigi was born in the village of Brandini, Italy, to Giuseppe and Clara Brandino, with siblings Madelina, Aldo and Stefano. He treasured his trips home to celebrate family as often as he could but also loved his life as a Canadian.
Luigi and Susan met in Bermuda where they married and started a family. After moving to Canada in 1969 he pursued a career in the hospitality industry and went on to manage restaurants and private clubs in Hamilton, Cobourg, Alymer, Calgary and Carleton Place. Luigi always had a strong calling to God and as hard as it is for his family to not have him in their presence they are comforted knowing that he is now in a spiritual resting place and at peace. A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful and caring staff at the Carleton Place Hospital, Dr. Bastin-Millar, and the supportive staff at the Carleton Place Terrace. A funeral mass to be held in his honour Tuesday, July 26 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 28 Hawthorn Street, Carleton Place.
