Lucio Dimailig 2022

It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved husband, father, ‘Lolo’, brother, and friend, Lucio Dimailig. Lucio passed away on January 3, 2022 at the age of
85 years.
He will be remembered by his loving wife of 53 years, Felicidad; daughters, Bethoven Dimailig (Chris), Nancy Thome (Rob), and Irene Abuan (Kit); grandchildren, Brianna and Eileen Smith, Tyler Thome, Isabella and Dante Abuan; siblings, Juliana Rodriguez, Asuncion Landicho, and Wilfredo Dimailig; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Lucio was predeceased by parents, Jose and Matea Dimailig; and siblings, Leonardo, Pacifico, Raphael, Juan, Catalino, Hermoso, and Fernando.
Lucio was born in Calaca, Batangas, Philippines on October 31, 1936, the fourth of eleven children. Knowing that education provided many opportunities, he worked hard to save money
to continue learning. He graduated from Manuel L. Quezon University with a degree in Geodetic Engineering. With this career, he owned and operated his own surveying and engineering business, travelling to many islands of the Philippines.
He married the love of his life, Felicidad in 1968. His drive, determination, and the desire for a better life for his children lead him to Edmonton, Alberta in 1971. He was hired by the
Government of Alberta to survey land within the province and northwest territories, working for them for over 25 years. He was joined in Canada by his wife and eldest daughter in 1972, his brother and second daughter in 1973, and many more family over the years.
After his retirement from the Government of Alberta, his desire to keep working lead him to part-time employment at Holiday Inn and McColman & Sons Demolitions Ltd.
Lucio was devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren, and touched the hearts of all that knew him.
Visitation and Prayers will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 6-9 pm at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street in Edmonton.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7 pm.
Government issued photo ID and proof of vaccination via QR code or a negative COVID test in the last 72 hours is required upon entry. The service will be live-streamed for those who are
unable to attend in person.
On January 14, 2022, a private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Parish with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Lucio Dimailig 2022..
