Lucille Duchnycz 2022

It is with profound sadness that we share that Lucille has passed away on August 6th, 2022 after a short battle with lung cancer. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 53 years, Ed; daughter, Kim (Rob) Bilodeau; son, Kevin (Carly) Duchnycz; grandchildren: Noah, Nicholas, Keira and Keenan; sister, Dianna Dubois; brothers: Albert (Darlene) Gagne and Eugene (Anita) Gagne; in laws, Murray Duchnycz and Joe Kopytko. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, aunts, an uncle, cousins, and good friends.
Lucille was born in Haywood, Manitoba, grew up in Portage la Prairie, and began her early married life in Winnipeg. Opportunity brought the young family to Edmonton in 1980, where they lived for the next 26 years.
Lucille was a Prairie girl at heart with feet firmly planted on the ground, but she willingly agreed to become a snowbird in 2006, when they sold their house to follow Dad’s dream of seeking adventures from the “no fixed address” of a motorhome. They enjoyed many trips to the southern States and Canadian points east of the Prairies, transitioning to wintering in the Lower Mainland of BC and summers in Alberta. The early pandemic brought them back to Alberta full time, and eventually hanging up the motorhome keys for a set of apartment keys.
Lucille was a supporter of her kids’ activities, from figure skating, soccer, baseball and hockey. She became a frequent audience member for Balada performances. She filled her calendar with her grandchildren’s activities and was beside many a soccer pitch, volleyball court, hockey rink, lacrosse and track field.
Lucille enjoyed crocheting, playing crib, listening to country music, visiting with friends at the lake, spending time with family, and she especially enjoyed her long telephone conversations with her sister.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Connelly-McKinley, with cremation taking place. Mom had requested that there be no service.
We are thankful for the care and compassion she received in the ICU at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Lucille Duchnycz 2022..
