Obituary
It is with gratitude for a life well lived that the family of Louise Marie Griffin announce her passing on June 24, 2022, at the age of 93 years. She left her earthly home to be with her Lord, passing away peacefully while attended by her family and the excellent, caring staff of St. Teresa Place (Hope East). Louise was predeceased by her parents, Lester and Edith Adams; husband Paul; infant son Gregory, daughters Jacqueline and Corinne as well as sister Edith.
Louise was born in Calgary and resided there her entire life. She was always willing to share stories of the early years, from riding street cars downtown to pressing clothes for soldiers, as well as graduating from St. Mary’s Girls School. She loved being a mother to her five daughters, instilling in them the importance of family, a value that has been passed down to further generations as well. Her love of new babies showed in the intricate sweaters, bonnets, and blankets she knit with each new arrival.
Volunteering with the St. Mark and Holy Trinity Catholic church CWL was taken on with pride, she was always willing to help wherever she could. From embroidering baptismal bibs to helping at funeral luncheons, she shared her kind spirit with many over the years.
To rejoice in her memory, Louise leaves behind her daughters Colette (Don), Jocelyn (Terry), and Colleen (a.k.a. Pat). Along with six grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great, great-grandchildren. Also to be included in this close-knit family circle are her brothers Robert (Mae) and Dale (Cheryl); and sister-in-law, Gloria Griffin. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins completed her family.
A Visitation will take place one hour prior to the Funeral Mass which will be celebrated on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Mark Roman Catholic Church. A recording of the service will be available for family and friends 24 hours after the service.
