Hauck, Lorraine:
It is with sadness and comfort that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Lorraine Hauck.
Mom passed away on December 30 in the comfort and surroundings of her own home with her loving family at her side. She was in her 95th year. Mom passed away six days after her loving husband Jerome of 70 years. We take comfort in knowing they continue their journey together.
Lorraine leaves behind her loving daughter, Faye McAdam who unselfishly cared for her mom and dad on a daily basis until the end, and her husband Harold; son, Gary Hauck, and his wife Robinne, and son, Paul Hauck and his wife Shannon. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren; Heather, Ian, and wife Natalie; Cam and wife Rachel, Wes and wife Allie; and Brady and friend Negar; Spencer, Wendell, and wife Ashley and Rachel. Mom was blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Owen, Lauren, Maggie, Madalyn, Connor, Harper, and Gavin.
Lorraine was born in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan in 1927, and eventually made her way to the Kitchener area where she met her husband, Jerome. They resided in Kitchener where they raised their family on Courtland Ave.
After mom raised her three children, she worked at Cameron Heights Secondary school as the cafeteria supervisor where she enjoyed taking care of the students.
Mom was always known for her fancy clothes and accessories and along with that her love for shopping “uptown” where she frequented her favourite stores. We fondly remember mom and dad getting dressed up on Friday and Saturday nights to go out to local clubs to dance and enjoy time with brothers, sisters, and friends. When Oktoberfest would come around, they would take time off work to enjoy the local German festivities.
Lorraine cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent many enjoyable hours watching and cheering the children while they played sports and shared in many proud moments and life events like graduations and weddings.
Although not a gardener like her husband Jerome, she very much enjoyed the view she had from her favourite chair on the front porch of their home. She may have even offered some non-solicited advice on how to plant the flowers. She did enjoy the magical sounds of wind chimes and had many both inside and outside their home. Wind chimes are known to provide healing effects on the body and mind. It brings us comfort to know that her wind chimes brought our mom to a place of inner peace, relaxation, and calmness while she passed.
The family has chosen to have a Celebration of Life for both of our parents when we can join with family and friends in the future. As per Lorraine’s wishes cremation has taken place under the care of Henry Walser Funeral Home.
If desired, donations may be made to the Grand River Hospital Foundation (cards available at the funeral home).
