Lorne Howard Rode, 55 of Kamloops, BC passed away on March 23, 2022 after a lifelong battle with mental health and addictions. Lorne was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Howard and Linda Rode and went to school in Central Butte, Sask and was well known and loved for his sense of humor and wit.
After losing his best friend and sister to a car accident in high school, Lorne left home and tried to move on with his life but he never fully recovered this loss. Lorne started working in the printing industry and found he enjoyed this type of work and worked in printing most of his life.
In 1995 Lorne met Julia Steinbrecher, they were married and they had two children together Trystan and Anika.
Lorne spent the most of his life in Calgary. He had a love of music and gardening. He was forever writing a song about something in his life and putting those words to music. If you saw him walking down the street, you would often see his guitar as well, for it was never far from his side.
Lorne loved to laugh and make others laugh and often cracked jokes, but he had a serious side to him and he loved deeply and often expressed his concern over the lost souls out there. Over the years Lorne made new starts and found comfort and some strength in playing hymns on his guitar.
Lorne is predeceased by his grandparents, Edward and Arvilla Rode, Christian and Laurella Thingelstad, and his loving friend and sister Colleen Rode.
He is survived by his children Trystan Rode (Hillary Alt), Anika Cook (Devon Cook) and grandchildren Quinn and Violet, parents; Howard and Linda Rode, siblings; Joylene Janzen (William), Bonnie Steinbrecher (Jamin), Merrylee Janzen (David), many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
