Obituary
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Lois Elsie (Farris) Martin which occurred at Turnbull Nursing Home on Saturday, September 10th, 2022. Born December 28th, 1928, in Saint John, she is the daughter of the late James and Eleanor (Woods) Farris. Lois worked as a Teacher at Kind Edward School and Lakewood Elementary School for 37 years. She was founder and former member of Cornerstone Baptist Church as well as a member of the Retired Teachers Association. In her earlier years, Lois enjoyed square dancing with her husband Ossie. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Lois is survived by her nieces Sue Gallivan and Roxanne White (Darren); long-time friends Norman Michaelsen (Donna), Sylvia Jones, Lita Baines-Waldron and Linda Trites; step-granddaughter Cheryl; as well as many great grandchildren. Along with her parents, Lois was predeceased by her husband Henry “Ossie”, sister Joye MacBurnie, step-son David Martin, step-daughter Cynthia Gillchrist, grandson Jeffrey, daughter-in-law Barbara and brother-in-law Cliff.
Thank you to the staff of Turnbull Nursing Home, for your kindness and compassion and for welcoming Lois with open arms.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A Graveside Service will take place at Greenwood Cemetery (1380 Sand Cove Road) on Friday, September 16th at 10 a.m. Donations in memory of Lois may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
