Lodewyk van Amerom

van Amerom, Lodewijk passed peacefully in the presence of family on April 3, 2022 at the age of 76. Just as he lived his life, “Lody/Alex” faced cancer with tenacity.
Born in Indonesia, Lody moved with his family to the Netherlands at the age of 17. In 1968, Lody immigrated to Canada where he found the opportunities and sense of home for which he’d been searching. Loyal partner of 50 years of Annette van den Goor. Proud father of Joshua (Caitlin Curran-Blaney), Gudrun (Jonathan Heap), Uriah (Amber), Jesse, and Niels (Katherine). Playful and loving Opa to Vaida, Iver, Freya, Sylvie and Bodhi. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Roy (Denise), Rene (Ann Byard), Patricia Meyers (Henry), and Helen van Amerom. Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, and extended family. Predeceased by his parents Frederik and Irene (nee Cooke) van Amerom and his brother Eric.
Lody lived his life with zest. He will be remembered fondly for his gleeful giggles, unrelenting work ethic, and deep devotion to family. Lody loved tinkering around the home he proudly spent his lifetime building, almost as much as spending time with his children and grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 1 at 3:00PM at the outdoor Boathouse Pavilion at Southside Park. If desired, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. Arrangements have been entrusted to the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington St. North, Woodstock, On (519-537-3611). Personal condolences may be sent at www.smithleroy.com

  1. Lodie was just a great guy, always friendly and helpful. The comment “ gleeful giggles, unrelenting work ethic” brought a smile to my face.
He was someone I considered a Friend first and a coworker second.
RIP in peace Brother, you will not be forgotten.
My deepest condolences to you all especially his children. He loved you and spoke often of how proud he was of you all.
