It is with heavy hearts the family announce the passing of Lloyd Brett of Joe Batts Arm on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the age of 89 years. Lloyd grew up in Joe Batts Arm and had a passion for fishing and time spent on the water.
He worked as a fisherman for many years with his father and brother by his side. His Humor wasn’t unnoticed in the community and those he met he always found joy in making others laugh.
Family was precious to Lloyd, and he cherished every opportunity and occasion to spend time with them.
Lloyd was born on Joe Batt’s Arm on August 11, 1933, son of the late Henry and Charlotte Brett.
Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife, Louise Brett, son, David Brett (Michelle), daughters, Marjorie Holmes, Paula Brett (Tim), brother-in-law, Walter coffin (Linda), Edgar Coffin and sister-in-law, Hazel Mercer, Kathleen Freake (Wilfred), Grandchildren, Shawn, Roxanne, Christopher (Carly), Abigail, Pam (Kenny) and Anthony (Lisa), great grandchildren, Karter, Kaison, Eava, Eden, Ellie, Olivia, Tyrone, Cassidy, Braden, and Morgan. Also left to mourn are his nieces, nephews, extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Hazel Brett and Emma (Alfred) Hancock, baby son, Lloyd, Brothers, William Brett, son in law, David Holmes, Brother-in-law, Lorenzo Mercer, sister-in-law, Betty Coffin and Granddaughter, Lynette Holmes.
Visitation will take place from Fogo Island Funeral Home on Thursday, from 204pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will take place from the Church of The Holy Spirit, Fogo Island, with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery in Shoal Harbour.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Cemetery Fund.
