LLOYD JACK BRIDGES
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Lloyd Jack Bridges on July 8, 2022, at the age of 62, with his daughters and sister by his side. All through his life, up until the day he left, he was surrounded by love, laughter, family and friends.
He was predeceased by: his dad William (Bill); mother Theresa (Terry) and countless other family members who held a spot for him at the table in the sky.
Left behind to mourn his passing are his two daughters Amanda (Bobby) and Amber; sister Joy (Rick); brother Allan (Wendy); niece Stacey; nephews Aaron, Justin, Grant and Adam; his grandchildren Alyssa, Rilen and Viola; mother of his children Brenda; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends especially Lee and Norman, who he knew for over 40 years.
Lloyd was born in Winnipeg but moved to Edmonton for work the last few years of his life. He enjoyed working the camps up in Alberta, driving the huge rock trucks which he would send pictures of to his grandson, and eating the 5-star meals that were provided to employees (especially the sundae bar). Before moving to Edmonton, he worked at Champ Ind. for several years, which was owned and staffed by the Bridges family. Throughout his younger years he worked with his dad at Bill’s Lawn and Leisure.
Lloyd loved spending his summers and making memories at the Oasis, from the time he was 4 years old to an adult, then with his own children and granddaughter Alyssa, until it closed in 2007. This was a love that was passed down to his children, so much so, that he was able to enjoy the last two weekends of his life, camping with his daughters and grandchildren at their trailers in Stonewall.
Lloyd had quite a temper when he was little. He used to grab anything that was near him and chase his big brother Allan because he was teasing him. Once when he was about 4, he grabbed an axe and started chasing Allan all around the tent. It took his two aunts and sister to hold him down. They were around 8, 9 and 10 at the time. As Lloyd grew up and learned to control his emotions, he became the kind of man who would give you the shirt right off his back! He was always there for anyone in need, whether it was a shoulder to cry on or back you up in a fight. He never shied away from making his emotions known and those he loved had no doubt of where they stood in his life. If ever there was a family who had its very own Teddy bear, it was ours and our Teddy Bear was Lloyd. The kindest person you could know. His full body laugh was contagious, and you couldn’t help but feel joy in his presence.
He will be forever missed
You never said I’m leaving,
You never said goodbye.
You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knew why.
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried.
If loved alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn’t go alone.
For part of me went with you,
The day God called you home.
