Lionel Léger
1926-2022
Lionel Léger, 96, of Cocagne, passed away peacefully at the
Residence Le P’tit Chez-Nous, Grande-Digue on Saturday August
13, 2022. He was married to the late Viola (Brun) Léger (2012).
Born in Cocagne, he was the son of the late Alyre and the late Elise
(Cormier) Léger.
Lionel was a fisherman and a carpenter. He was also a member of the
Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Council 6837.
He will be sadly missed by his children; Anise Léger, Ginette
Cormier (Michel) both of Cocagne, Stella Bourque (Jean-Guy) of
Saint-Marcel, Normand (Carmella) of Moncton, Omer (Francine), Raymond
both of Cocagne, Alyre (Alice) of Grande-Digue, Claude (Gisèle)
of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, eleven grandchildren and thirteen great
grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn his sisters; Aurea Belliveau
(late Victor) of Saint-Paul, Anna Despres (late Ulric) of Lynn, MA,
Ann LeBlanc (late Ovila) of Saint-Antoine, and several nieces and
nephews.
Lionel was predeceased by his sisters; Melanie, Mina, Bertha and
brothers; Cyrille, Telex, Pierre, Armand, Elzée, Ulric and
Elisée, daughter-in-law, Ida and a special friend Dorice
LeBlanc.
Visitations will be held at the Saint-Pierre Roman Catholic Church,
2000 Rte 535, Cocagne on Friday August 19, 2022 from 7 to 9pm. The
Funeral Mass will be held at the Saint-Pierre Church on Saturday
August 20, 2022 at 10:30am. Interment will be in the parish
cemetery.
In Lionel’s memory a donation can be made to the Extra-Mural
Program or the CHU Dumont Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Maillet Funeral
Home, Bouctouche.
