LINDA SMITH
(nee Nobiss)
Our beloved Mother and Grandmother passed away with family at her side on January 2nd, 2022 at Grace Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Donald (Tracey), Jamie (Crystal) and daughter Corralie (Jody); along with grandchildren Kayla (Matt), Maya (Thomas), Emma, Owen (Hayley), Jessica and Erika. She will also be missed by her brothers Dennis (Phyllis), Lionel (Linda), John, Terry (Donna) and sisters Janet, Joan, Lillian and Barbara (Al) as well as many friend and other family members.
She was predeceased by her parents Elizabeth & Thomas, her husband Peter, her brother Leonard, and sister Geraldine, and her brother in-laws Clifford, Jim and Bruce.
Linda was born in Stonewall, MB on July 7th, 1951. She moved with her family to Winnipeg as a child. She left school and started working as a teenager to make ends meet. As an adult Linda went back to school, obtained her GED, and went on graduate from the Red River College Community Development program in 1996. After this she dedicated her spirit and knowledge to helping improve the lives and knowledge of many adult learners as an Adult Literacy Instructor.
She loved spending time with her brothers and sisters especially if they were at the casino, hosting pot-lucks with the grandkids, and enjoying sunny days out at the cabin with family. Her special talent was her love for sewing, which was shared with many friends and family members in the way of blankets, table runners, bowl holders, bags and many other items that are keepsakes to us all. She also enjoyed traveling to BC, she loved the mountains and would go to enjoy them any chance she’d get.
Linda fought a hard battle the past 8 months. We are at peace knowing she is no longer suffering and is now safe in the arms of the love of her life, Peter.
A special thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for her at Cancer Care and the Grace Hospital.
Funeral Service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main St on Monday January 10, 2022 at 10am. Proof of vaccination will be required. A live stream option will also be available at www.cropo.com.
