Obituary of Linda Hay
Linda Patricia Hay (nee Elliott), loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away suddenly in hospital on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022 at the age of 80. For years she bravely battled many serious health issues, but now she is free from the pain and suffering. No more dialysis.
She was one of 12 children born to William and Gladys Elliot on August 13, 1942 and she was a quiet, kind person with a beautiful smile and bright blue eyes. She will be missed dearly by her friends and family, but especially by her lovingly devoted caregiver and husband Bruce (Wilbert) Hay who would do absolutely anything for his sweetheart.
Linda was the loving mother of Jeff (Candace) and Kerry (Craig) and grandmother to Erica and Nathan. There will be such an incredible void without her.
She is predeceased by her sisters Sybil Yeck (Tony), Jean Allen (John), Lila Moloughney (Bill) and Shirley Perry (George) and her brothers Bernie (Lil), William (Anne) and Ray (Jackie).
Linda or “Linny” as she was also known as, is survived by her sisters Joyce Shore (late Bill), Audrey Zoschke (John), Frances Plante (Gerald) and Carol White (Gordon). Her sisters and their husbands were also her close friends along with Hilda Nesbitt, her friend for over 50 years.
Despite her ongoing medical issues, Linda recently celebrated and really enjoyed her surprise 80th birthday and 60th wedding anniversary party. Unfortunately, due to covid restrictions, not everyone could attend, but we are thankful that we were able to get together, share laughs and create another wonderful memory of her.
She enjoyed playing shuffle, beating “the boys” at cards, and in the earlier years, snowmobiling all snuggled up behind Bruce. She recently joined him playing billiards at the Legion on Thursday nights and was getting quite good at it! She wouldn’t say she loved sewing, but she was a talented seamstress (that gene was not passed down unfortunately).
We weren’t ready to say goodbye, but we know she’s now at peace, no longer suffering and hopefully in a better place. That’s of some comfort to all of us who will miss her dearly.
As per her wishes, there will be no services and she will be cremated.
