Obituary
Born in Hare Bay, NL on March 12, 1952, Linda Banfield passed peacefully after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by family at the Health Sciences Center ICU on Tuesday March 1, 2022.
Predeceased by her parents Gordon and Rachael Collins; her father and mother-in-law Ted and Susie Banfield; Brothers Maxwell Collins, Samuel Collins, Rankin Collins, Claude Collins and Sherman Collins; Sisters Daphne Pearce and Lily Goulding; Brother in laws Austin Pearce and Cyril Taylor; Sister in laws Lucy Collins, Lily Collins, and Bessie Cox.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband of 47 years Frank Banfield, son Darryl Banfield (Laurel), daughter Renee, and her pride and joy her grandchildren Riley and Terilyn Fifield. Brothers Gordon Collins, Michael Collins (Rita), Frank Collins (Mona), Gene Collins (Rebecca), Perry Collins (Kay); Sisters Donna Legge (Stan), Sheila Collins (Adam); Brothers in law Christie Goulding and Norman Cox; Sisters in law Peggy Collins and Emma Collins, as well as a large circle of Nieces, Nephews, extended family and friends.
Linda devoted her life and love to her family and home. She worked previously at the Newfoundland Hotel with her sister Daphne, and also at the CNIB. She was one of the biggest cheerleaders at the hockey rink, ballfields, and bowling lanes with her children. She had a great love of reading, and loved watching the Salvation Army Services on her computer and singing her heart out, much to the chagrin of the neighbours. To say she kept in touch with family is an understatement, she never missed anyone’s anniversary or birthday.
Special thanks to Dr. Lee and the team of ICU nurses at the Health Sciences Centre (Terilyn, Sheldon, Shyanne, and Bobbi), and to everyone who sent prayers and well wishes.
