Obituary
Linda Ann Manegre (Hoffinger) died May 6, 2022 at Villa Pascal, North Battleford, SK at the age of 74 years. Linda was born March 1, 1948 at Unity, SK. Linda is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Edward (Ted) of North Battleford, SK; daughter Cheryl, Neave (Wayne Rumpf) of Battleford, SK; son, Dana (Tanya) of Saskatoon, SK; three grandchildren: Connor Neave, Aidan Manegre and Josh Manegre. She was predeceased by her parents, Emma Huard, Frank Hoffinger and stepfather Arthur Huard; sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Ken Schwan; mother-in-law, Eva Manegre; and niece Lori Kosolofski.
Linda was quite a tom boy when younger and loved spending summers with all her Schafer cousins in Unity. Linda first met Ted at the age of twelve when their group of friends went for a Coke after skating at the Battleford arena. A few years later while driving with her mother she saw Ted again, looked at her mom and announced “I’m going to marry that boy”. Ted & Linda started dating and were married in 1968. They welcomed their baby girl Cheryl in February of 1971, moved into their first home in 1972, and completed their family when Dana was born in March of 1973.
Linda, Ted and the kids enjoyed many activities together including hunting, fishing and camping. Linda loved spending time with her family at the cabin in Cochin which always resulted in much fun, laughter and many beloved memories. She enjoyed visits with friends and family, always welcoming them with open arms and homemade meals. In her quiet time she loved to read and never missed her bi-weekly trip to the library. She was an avid crocheter and known for her many beautiful afghans which she delighted in gifting to others. She loved gardening and was extremely proud of her flower garden. She spent many hours in the sun enjoying the yard, taking care of the vegetable garden and picking berries.
Linda was overjoyed when her grandsons came along. She loved to spend time with the boys and was a firm believer in spoiling them with treats. They loved Gramma’s special buns, raspberry jam, soups and all the treat bags and candies that showed up for every holiday. Linda treasured watching and cheering on her grandsons as they played in their many sporting events and was always so proud of them.
As per Linda’s request there will be no formal service held and a private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Any memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society as this was a cause dear to Linda’s heart.
Many special thanks to Dr. Johnson, Dr. Campbell, all the home care nurses, the BUH palliative care team, and to all the staff at Villa Pascal who cared for her during this most difficult time.
Funeral arrangements have ben entrusted to Trevor Watts of Eternal Memories Funeral Services and Crematorium. Condolences to the family can be left at www.eternalmemoriesfuneral.ca.
