Liana Vercillo-Iorio
May 3, 1961 – April 5, 2022
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Liana Rosina Vercillo-Iorio on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
On May 3, 1961, a beautiful baby girl was born to Sante & Silvia Vercillo. Mom was one of four children and was just shy of her 61st Birthday. Growing up and planting her roots in Trail, BC Liana graduated from JL Crowe Secondary in 1981. Shortly after she married Giuseppe Iorio and in 1985 they welcomed their first daughter Teresa. In 1989 their family grew, welcoming their baby girl Kristan. Liana was most proud of her daughters, bragging and showing them off at any given chance.
Liana spent the next 35 years doing what she did best, caring and providing for others. As a Care Aide, Liana started her career off at Kiro Manor and went on to other extended-care facilities in our community.
Liana will always be remembered as the life of the party who could make anyone get up and start dancing. The family was always Liana’s number one. Whether it was family reunions, weddings, birthdays, or just family dinners; she always had the music playlist ready.
It wasn’t until 2009 that Liana’s life had a whole new meaning. Welcoming her first grandchild, being promoted to Nonna was a role that came naturally. In 2014, two more grandchildren blessed mom’s world and could not be more proud of her three beautiful grandchildren.
Liana’s true passion was in the kitchen being the hostess, you never left her house hungry or empty-handed.
Mom was greeted at the gates of heaven by her parents Santé and Silvia, sister-in-law Sandy, nephew Danny, son-in-law Matthew, and partner Roger.
Liana leaves behind her legacy to her daughters Teresa and Kristan (Travis); her siblings Iolanda (Mark) Vanderzee, Guy (Shelley) Vercillo, Tony (Shari) Vercillo; her grandchildren Matthew, Isabella, Roman; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and best friend Kim.
We would like to thank everyone for their kind words and love during this difficult time. To the staff at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital ICU unit, especially the Doctors and Nurses; you are truly remarkable individuals. Thank you for not giving up on our mother and fighting for her every last breath.
A Celebration of Liana’s Life will be held on May 7, 2022, @ 1 pm at the Colombo Lodge.
The crazy Calabrese will never be forgotten
