SMITH, Leta Matilda
Leta Smith died peacefully, with family by her side, at Eastholme, Powassan, on Friday, December 31, 2021. She was 94 years old. Leta (Clapperton) was predeceased by her husband George W. Smith (1924-2015) and her son Carmon Smith (1947-2018). She was the beloved mother of Rick Smith (Susan) of Loring and mother-in-law of Sharon Smith of Loring. She will be lovingly remembered by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Leta was the dear sister of the late Erva Gorham (Bert of Loring), the late Orland Clapperton (Enid of Loring), the late Marion Bain (Ernie of Parry Sound), Gloria Gillette (the late Joe) of Alberta, Harley Clapperton (the late Iris) of Alberta, Warren Clapperton (Hazel) of South River and Derrill Clapperton (the late Betty) of Loring. The Smith family will receive visitors at Arnstein Gospel Hall on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Please call the funeral home at 705-724-2024 to book a time to visit. The funeral service will take place in the hall on Wednesday, January 5 at 2:00 pm. Seating is limited. Please call the funeral home at 705-724-2024 to reserve a seat. The service will also be live-streamed, the link will be available Monday afternoon. COVID-19 protocols will be enforced for both visiting and funeral; masks must be worn and physical distancing maintained. Spring interment will take place at Loring Community Cemetery.
