The death of Lester Joseph Vickers husband of Lois (MacDonald) Vickers of Cains River, NB, occurred on Monday, May 9, 2022 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 70. Born in Cains River, NB, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Brophy) Vickers. Lester was a member of St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church, worked as a labourer at both Blackville Lumber and Repap. Lester enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a guide for over 50 years. He also looked after camps for American Sports. He loved spending time with his grandsons, his beloved wife and fishing the mouth of Cains.
Besides his wife, Lester is survived by: daughter: Leanne Vickers of Cains River, NB; grandsons: Malcolm and Kyler; sisters: Mary Esther Moody (Peter) of Blackville, NB; Betty Ann Watters (Thomas “Toss”) of Miramichi, NB; sisters-in-law: Marie Vickers of Toronto, ON; Marsha Vickers of Howard Road, NB as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Lester is predeceased by: sisters: Rita and Helen (Arnold); brothers: Fred, Irving, Johnny (Theresa), Dale (Jacqueline); nephews: Terrence, Dale and Adam.
The family will receive visitors at St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church, Blackville, NB on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church on Thursday at 11 AM with Father Claude Daigle officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery at a later date.
