It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden death
of Les Hope on Wednesday September 14, 2022 at the Moncton
Hospital.
Les will be sadly missed by his daughter Megan, sister Tammy
(Darren), nephew Josh, niece Victoria and best friends Jackie and
J.P. He will be fondly remembered by extended family,
friends and former colleagues.
Les grew up in Moncton but dreamed of living in Ottawa, a
city he fell in love with during family vacations. Les
graduated from UNB with a Business Administration Degree in 1985 and
shortly thereafter headed to Ottawa where he worked in retail
management and in the banking industry for over 20 years. He
would eventually return to Moncton in 2016 to care for his
mother. He looked forward to the day he could return to
Ottawa.
Les had friends of all ages, stages and walks of
life. He loved to talk to people and felt it a privilege to
get to know someone and in turn he felt honored when someone took the
time to get to know him.
Les had a keen interest in Musical Theatre which started at a
very young age when his parents took him to various
productions. He saw many shows on Broadway and his extensive
knowledge of the music from these productions was unrivaled.
He even joined “Suzart Productions”, a community theatre
group where he got to perform and volunteer in various
capacities.
Les loved his family members and it always gave him great joy
to spend time with them or talk to them from across the
miles. He was a proud father and uncle.
In his spare time Les loved to do trivia, karaoke, read,
watch crime tv shows and he was a huge Coronation Street fan and never
missed an episode.
Les was predeceased by his parents Darrell and Catherine
Hope. He is survived by paternal aunts and many
cousins.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the
Moncton Hospital who cared for Les during his final hours.
In particular “Kaitlin” Les’s neuro-intensive care
nurse. She is proof that there are angels here on earth and
has found her true calling. A special thank you to also goes
out to Dr. R. Comstock who cared for Les since his return to Moncton.
He always said he was fortunate to have such a fine
doctor.
A Celebration of Les’s life will take place at
Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd, Moncton (858-1995), on
Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11:00 am with visitation an hour
beforehand. A reception will follow the service. Interment will take
place at a later date.
In honour of Les you are invited to wear his favourite colour
red on the day of the funeral.
