Leon George Moffatt of Port Sydney, Ontario, husband to the late Myra (Wareing) his love since age 9, father to Elizabeth (Robert) Moffatt-Howarth and grandfather to his dear Alison, has passed away peacefully on December 22, 2022 at the age of 92 after a brief illness.
Leon was born on March 19, 1930, in Hamilton Ontario. A resident of the “north end”, he told many stories about the comings and goings of the Railway Street area.
Leon, worked as Yard Superintendent for Waxman, formerly on Burlington Street and has enjoyed many years in retirement.
Leon was a pal, he loved to be with people. His kind heart and generous spirit leaves many with a tale to tell about how Leon gave of himself.
Leon loved travel, has seen many places, lived as a Snowbird in Florida, and summered in Muskoka and most recently with his daughter and family in Grimsby. He was always tinkering with his cars, taking time to have a beer with whoever stopped by and cozied up in his easy chair at night to watch an old western movie.
Leon is predeceased by his father, Lorne and mother, May, his brothers, Gary and Calvin, his sisters, Phyllis and Lois. He is survived by his brother, David, and sisters, Betty and Gloria.
Leon will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, friends, family and his companion of 17 years, Earla Garr.
Many thanks go to the hospital staff of West Lincoln Memorial, Grimsby, Ontario and special thanks to Dr. Grady.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in the late spring at Port Sydney, Muskoka. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be made at wwwdonaldvbrown.ca
May God grant you peace.
