Leonard’s Obituary
SURETTE, Leonard Joseph – age 90, Villa Acadienne, Meteghan, formerly of Surette’s Island, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Monday, January 24, 2022 in the Villa. Born August 16, 1931 in Surette’s Island, he was the last surviving child of the late Elizer and Emma (LeBlanc) Surette. Leonard was a lifelong lobster fisherman. He was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 8988 Tusket and was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Church, Surette’s Island. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Rose Marie T. (Muise) Surette, as well as by children, Doreen (Neil) Boucher, Dieppe, NB; Leonard Jr. “Lenny” Surette, Surette’s Island; Leland (Elaine) Surette, Morris Island; Philip (Annora) Surette, Yarmouth and Arthur (Linda) Jacquard, Surette’s Island, along with grandchildren, Lyette Boucher, Joasiane Mullen, Marcel Surette, Jean-Marc Surette, Cheryl Surette, Nicholas Surette, Jimmy Jacquard and Justin Jacquard, as well as by eight great grandchildren. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Julie Surette, as well as by brothers, Martin, Joseph and Flavien Surette and a grandson, Joel Jacquard. A funeral Mass and interment will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes, Yarmouth.
