It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Leo Josef Bigger, at the age of 91, at Maison McCulloch Hospice.
Born in Vilters, Switzerland to Josef Bigger and Maria Katharina Meli (both pre-deceased), Leo came to Canada in 1954. Later that year mutual friends introduced him to the love of his life Inge Mary Binz. The two married and made Sudbury their home raising three sons.
Leo worked for INCO and Falconbridge as well as running his own landscaping business. This eventually led to him taking a full-time job with the City of Sudbury where he worked for 23 years retiring in 1993 as the Manager of Special Projects with the Parks and Recreation department.
Loving husband of Inge Bigger (nee Binz) for over 66 years. Dear brother of Seppi, Freddie, Erwin, Gebbi, Emma, Monica, Benny (all pre-deceased) and Grete. Beloved father of Brian (Lori), Greg (Cheryl) and Chris (Sally). Cherished grandfather of Stephanie (Mike), Devon (Jennifer), Stacey, William, Kyle and Cameron. Treasured great grandfather of Mason, Wyatt, Liam, Brendan, Carson, Gemma, Brayden, Colton, Letty, and Knox.
Our sincere thanks to For Seniors Only, the doctors and nurses at Health Sciences North, Cancer Centre, Emergency Department and 5 south and the Maison McCullough hospice for their excellent care of Leo.
Many thanks for the kindness shown and their tireless support of our family.
