Lennart Klemens Anderson, age 87, late of Weyburn, SK passed away at his home with family by his side on the morning of June 29, 2022.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Alfred Anderson; as well as his brothers: Arne, Mores, Elmer: and many cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends.
He is loved and mourned by his wife Sheila and their children: Erick (Brenda) their son Evan (Becca); John (Cathy) their sons, Byron (Emily) and Tyrone; Wendy (Glyn) and their children, Carys, Kiara and Connor; Neil (Cheryl) and their children Carly (Liam), Spencer (Melissa) and Benjamin; Janet and her children, Jaxson and David; as well his sister Ruth (Lionel). Lennart is also mourned by his nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and the rest of his extended family and friends.
Lennart was born at the Shaunavon Union Hospital on April 25, 1935 to Alfred and Ruth Anderson. He grew up as a farm boy, living on his family farm with his four siblings a short distance from the small town. Living on a farm nurtured his love for life and animals, which ultimately led him to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. He attended the University of Guelph where he met his future wife, Sheila Dunn, and earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
As he was starting his career, he and Sheila started to grow their family, first welcoming their son Erik who was followed by John, Wendy, Neil, and Janet. With a house full of children and pets, there was never a dull moment for Lennart and Sheila. In fact, Lennart loved this time of his life so much, that he had a quote that became somewhat famous in the family, that the best year in your life is when you are 30.
Lennart’s veterinary career led him to have many interesting and rewarding experiences, as he was primarily working with large farm animals, such as cattle and horses. His career also led to a few relocations, and he was able to live in a variety of places across the prairies, including Morse, Carstairs, Herbert, Prince Albert, Regina, Calgary, Emma Lake and Weyburn.
When he retired, he and Sheila moved from Calgary to Emma Lake where they renovated the cottage Lennart originally built from the ground up. This home became the centre of many family gatherings, memories, and happy moments. They eventually sold the cottage to be closer to family, first moving to Regina and then to Weyburn. This move allowed them to travel, including going on numerous road and camping trips.
Lennart was also active in the lives of his grandchildren and was always excited to talk to and hear about their lives, as well as attending many of their sporting events, concerts, school ceremonies, and other activities. He was also active in his church and was a member of the Variations choir, where he performed in concerts of his own.
On top of everything else, Lennart was also a skilled craftsman. He could almost always be found in his garage working on some sort of project, and he always seemed to have an answer for every problem one could possibly have. He was tenacious and intelligent, but always gentle and kind.
