SAMIS – Lena Irene (nee. Smith) of St. Thomas passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late Paul Samis (2013). Lena will be dearly missed by her children Cindy Samis of St. Thomas, Steve Samis of St Thomas, Linda (Don) Stoap of Oakville, Valerie (Chris) DesLandes of St. Thomas; grandchildren Jenna Stoap, Adam (Christine) Stoap, Daniel Stoap, Alyssa DesLandes (Cody Van de poll); great grand-children Kaitlynn Moore, Rayne Moore, Bentley McKee and Tyler Van de poll; sisters, Donna Mozga, Doreen Hewitt; and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers Len Smith, Murray Smith and Wray Smith and sisters Elsie Campbell and Ethel McNea. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Private interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society Southwestern Partners or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.sjfh.ca
