Ricketson, Leila Dorothy
Age 90. Born Jan 19, 1932 in Barbados, WI. She went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Feb 5, 2022 in Middleton NS. Daughter of Herbert and Hilda (nee Kirton) Watson of Barbados. She is predeceased by her parents and grandson Jeremy Dytynyshyn. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 68 years, C Lewis Ricketson PhD; brothers Geoffrey and Michael Watson, Barbados and sister Patricia Woodward, Kelowna, BC; children Charles W Ricketson (Janice) Victoria, BC, Carolyn A Hubble (David) Lawrencetown, NS and Nancy E Dytynyshyn (David) Moncton, NB; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Dorothy graduated from Macdonald College of McGill University in 1953 with an Honours BSc (Home Economics). It was there she met her future husband and they married in Carleton Corner, NS June 27, 1953. They moved to Kentville, NS where Dorothy was the first dietician at the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital. Above all, Dorothy loved God and her family. She also loved cats, music, cross-stitching, jigsaw puzzles and gardening with Lew. The family greatly appreciates the loving care given to Dorothy at Graceview Residence and by the doctors and nurses at Soldiers Memorial Hospital. A private funeral under the direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown, NS will be held at Bridgetown Baptist Church Friday Feb 11 at 2 pm. Interment at a later date. Donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of NS, VON Nova Scotia or charity of choice. Online condolences may be made at www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
