Nick passed away peacefully on September 22, 2022 at 9:20 a.m. after a courageous battle with cancer. Nick was surrounded by his family who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 33 years Dale, his sons David (Robyn), Devon, Jordan (Robyn), Jayden, and his sisters Roberta and Sue. Nick was predeceased by his parents-in-law Bill and Dorothy Nafostowicz, mother Carol Nickerson, brothers-in-law Wayne and Robert Nafostowicz and Randy Husluk, and sister Laurel.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Nick. He loved BBQing, cooking wieners on a stick around a bonfire, and spending time with his family. Nick was a very good handyman and enjoyed helping our neighbour Janet with anything she needed done. He enjoyed watching NASCAR with a beer in his hand while wearing his many NASCAR shirts on a Sunday afternoon. Nick’s three cats Chloe, Sophie, and Annie and his two turtles Pearl and Simon are going to miss him so much. He was an animal lover and really enjoyed spending time with his grand dogs, Gromie, Nova, and Byrdie, and his grand cats Romeo and Felix.
Nick was very proud of all his boys. He enjoyed watching them bowl and even went to Newfoundland to watch Jordan bowl in the nationals. He was so proud of Devon’s musical skills, and all of the boys’ successes in school.
We would like to thank Dr. Kevin Brown from CancerCare Manitoba for the great care you gave to our husband and father Nick and for making us laugh when all we wanted to do is cry. Our sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff on D6 at HSC for their understanding, kindness, and empathy during Nick’s illness. Special thanks to Leon the healthcare aid for making Nick’s hospital stays more bearable.
As per Nick’s wishes, there will be no service but a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nick’s memory to CancerCare Manitoba.
Nick – I feel you did not leave me.

I know you fought hard to stay with me.
