Lawrence “Larry” McDonald
1932-2022
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by
his family, at Andrews of Stratford, on Saturday, April 2, 2022 of
Larry McDonald; beloved husband of the late Marjorie McDonald (nee
McDearmid). Born in Webster’s Corner, he was the son of
Aeneas McDonald and Stella Roberts (nee Dunn).
Larry was the father of Deborah (Buddy Longaphie), Lynn, Stephen
(Susan), Paul (Dominique Chouinard), and Chris (Pamela Cameron);
grandfather of Adam, Jason, Jonathan, Jordan, Emily, Rachel, Andrew,
Tyler, Lucas; and great-grandfather to many. He also leaves behind his
sister Bernadette MacIntyre and his stepbrother, Lloyd Roberts. Larry
was predeceased by his brothers; Gerald McDonald, Leonard McDonald and
his stepbrother, Leo Roberts.
He was known for
the many years he spent working as a carpenter. Later in life, he went
back to school at Holland College and became a power engineer. He
found a work home for may years at the J. Frank Gaudet Tree Nursery as
a jack of all trades until his retirement. He will always be
remembered for his quick wit, his fondness for ice cream and his love
of crosswords.
He now gets to be reunited with
Marjorie. Known as two “peas-in-a-pod”, Larry and Marjorie
truly enjoyed each other’s company. They made many tips to
Florida, Europe and a much talked about cruise to Alaska. For many
years, they were regulars at bingo and were avid followers
of curling, especially the Brier and the Scotties. As
Marjorie’s health was failing, Larry never left her side.
Family members will always remember his attentiveness and caring for
her.
