MacDonald, Lawrence John, age 66
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lawrence
MacDonald at his home in Pleasant Valley, Antigonish County, on
January 29th, 2022.
Born in Antigonish, on January 24, 1956, Lawrence spent his
whole childhood on Somer’s Road. He married the love of his
life, Mary Hudson, on May 22nd, 1976. Together they moved to Pleasant
Valley and had two daughters.
He began his career as a car salesman at Keltic Ford in
Antigonish, as a teenager. Although he worked as an oilman for various
companies throughout Antigonish, his biggest passion was always
trucking. This dream came to life when he started his own trucking
business. He also owned and operated a Taxi business with the help of
many family members and friends.
Although Lawrence was once a man with many assets, his most
valuable assets were his three beautiful granddaughters. He was
affectionately known to them as “Papa”.
He was an amazing partner to his wife for 46 years, an
amazing father and provider to his two daughters, and an incredible
grandfather to his three granddaughters, who became his entire
world.
Lawrence was one of the most caring and generous men
you’d ever have the pleasure of meeting. He was the type of
man that would give you his last dollar if needed and would literally
give you the shirt off his back. His generosity and sincere kindness
will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Hudson), of Pleasant
Valley; his two daughters, Sherri (James Chisholm) of Tracadie, and
Angela (Gerard Kell) of South River Road; and granddaughters Mariah
MacDonald, Trinity Kell and Brooke Kell.
He is also survived by his father-in-law, Clarence Hudson;
sisters, Cathy (Bernie Hughes), Bonnie (Shawn Corning), Bernadine, and
Laurie (Brad Himer); brothers, John D. (Annette), Jamie (Deanna),
Donald (Donna), and Robert (Deenie) and many nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Lawrence A., mother
Catherine (MacPherson), mother-in-law Theresa (Hudson), and by one
sister in infancy.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no wake or funeral
mass at Lawrence’s request. Donations in his name can be
made to the V.O.N. Antigonish.
Fly high with the angels Papa, until we meet again.
