Lawrence (Larry) Edmund Bergen
February 20, 1942-February 22, 2022
The family of Larry Bergen is saddened to announce his passing on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the age of 80 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Larry was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on February 20, 1942 to Eddie and Edna Bergen. Larry was well known for his love of cars which led him to own Gundy’s tire shop in Red Deer. After he sold the tire shop he went on to become a successful carpenter and was well respected for his meticulous work. When Larry wasn’t working on cars or building new projects, he enjoyed playing crib, watching Nascar and touring around visiting friends and family.
Larry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jeanne; best friend and sidekick, Dawson; father-in-law, Reiny; his brothers, Neil (Tessie) and Ken; his children, Ed, Pam (Vic), Jodie (Tom), Shauna (Shawn) and Sheldon (Melissa). He will also be missed by his grandkids, Erik, Dean, Scott, Taaron, Carollynn, Makayla, Ava, Janaya, Kaleigh, Jayden, Ethan and Annie. Along with his immediate family he will be missed by a large network of friends and extended family. Larry was predeceased by his parents Eddie and Edna.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Larry’s name to the woodworking shop class at the Bentley School, Box 299, Bentley, Alberta T0C 0J0. A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be held at a date yet to be determined.
