It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doris Eleanor Lautner, at the age of 88 years.
Doris went home to the Lord on June 6, 2022, in the University Hospital in Edmonton, with family by her side. She leaves behind her two children, Dwayne (Kristen) and Cynthia. She was grandmother to Kaitlyn Langkaas (Brandon), Christina Lautner, Keira and Cyanne Balcombe. She was predeceased by her husband Les, her parents Alvina and Alfred, her sister Patricia and brothers Jack and Raymond. She is survived by her step-mother Mary and siblings: Leona, Margaret, Fred (Penny), Teresa (Joe), Marie (Steve), Debbie (Ian), Esther (Darrell), Donald (Lisa), Joyce (Calvin), Annette (Shane).
Doris (nee) Morin was born in Leask, Saskatchewan in 1934. She was the eldest of all fourteen siblings. Doris spent much of her life in Leoville and working at the mink ranch in Chitek Lake. She moved around a fair bit and also resided in Spiritwood, Prince Albert, Crossfield and then Edmonton. Edmonton is where, in 1969, she met and married the love of her life, Les Lautner. They were together for 49 years.
If she knew you were visiting, she would always bake a fresh batch of buns. She was known far and wide for her bread making skills. The kitchen was her happy place, including at the local school in Prince Albert where she worked in the kitchen until in her early seventies.
Doris always saw the best in everyone and always looked for the positive in life. She had a profound ability with her soft-spoken voice and her humble personality, to connect with; and embrace people she met.
Doris lived a life devoted to caring for others, with never a complaint. She showed that devotion especially by her commitment to help raise her youngest siblings and her own two children who were all keenly aware of her love. Your life was a blessing and a treasure. You are loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life on June 19, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in Sylvan Lake, Alberta. It is to be potluck. Bring your stories to share.
