Laurie Carolyn Fortinberry Tribble – age 85 years, of Knoxville, TN passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, in her home due to natural causes. Carolyn was born February 25, 1937 and raised in New Orleans, LA. She attended college at Southeastern Louisiana University where she received her teaching degree. She was married to Maynard Tribble on June 12, 1959 and recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. She taught school and worked with preschoolers for much of her career. She served as the Children’s Minister at First Baptist Church of Knoxville, TN and traveled across TN training preschool leaders. She served alongside Maynard for 60 years of ministry in LA, TX, and TN. Maynard and Carolyn have called Knoxville, TN home for the past 40 years. They are members of Buffat Heights Baptist Church of Knoxville, TN where Maynard serves as Minister to Senior Adults. Carolyn loved spending time with her family traveling across the states. She loved visiting her hometown New Orleans for the cajun cuisine and spending time close to home enjoying The Great Smoky Mountains. Carolyn will be remembered for her kindness, sweet spirit, patience and the love she showed others.
Preceded in death by parents, Duvoix Brown and Gussie Alford Fortinberry; brother and sister-in-law, Lemuel and Evelyn Fortinberry; brother-in-law, Bill Upchurch; and nephews, Kenny Fortinberry and Andrew Maronge.
Survived by husband, Arthur Maynard Tribble; son, Greg Tribble (Knoxville, TN); and daughter and sons-in-law, Shawn and Billy Smith (LaFollette, TN) and Laurie and Jeff Brownfield (Cleveland, TN); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Erin, Shelby, Seth, Noah and Annabelle Smith and Carter, Lauren and Laiken Brownfield; great grandchild, Millana; sisters and brother-in-law, Glenda and George Maronge and Rebecca Upchurch.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Buffat Heights Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 7:00 PM with Pastor Billy Smith officiating. Family and friends will meet 9:15 AM on Friday at Bridges Funeral Home and go in procession to East TN Veteran Cemetery-John Sevier for a 10:00 AM interment.
