Laurent Blake 2022

The family would like to announce the passing of Larry Blake in Sudbury at Health Sciences North on January 13, 2022, at the age of 86 years. Son of the late Terrencien (Ted) Blake and the late Aldina (nee Cataford) Raymond. Husband of the late Claire (nee Lafleur) Blake. Father of Denis (Christine), Claude (Diana) and Roger (Denise). Brother of the late Claire Belanger, Raymond, Richard, Pauline Sheppard, Jeanne Brown and the late Cecile Freeland. He will be remembered by his grandchildren, Christopher (Ashley), Anthony (Kelsey), Andrew, Paul and Joseph (Josee), as well as his great-grandson, Cedric and many nieces, nephews and friends. Larry grew up in the Coniston area and retired from Falconbridge Nickel Mines after a 33 year career, as a mechanic and most recently, as a supervisor. He was an avid reader, enjoying primarily all things Canadian, historical and war events, as well as biographies. He was an accomplished carpenter and enjoyed crafting toys and furniture. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He spent time travelling in Canada with his wife Claire to visit family and friends. Cremation and a gravesite ceremony will take place at a later time for immediate family. Donations will be gratefully accepted in his memory, to the Maison McCulloch Hospice in Sudbury, which was a charity of choice of Larry’s. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
