Obituary
Laureen Ann Mitchell (nee Wood) tragically passed away around 3:00 pm Thursday July 28th near, Grafton, Ontario. Laureen is survived by her loving husband of 27 years and best friend John Roy Mitchell, daughters Olivia (Nick) and Tiana; her brothers John Wood of Grafton and Robert (Danielle) of Anchorage Alaska and sister Elizabeth (Steve) of Montreal; mother-in-law Geraldine Mitchell and sister-in law Susan (Dan) and Sharon. She is also survived by her niece Saoirse Jordan-Wood, and nephews Evan Wood, James (Nayeli), Kevin, Kyle and Michael. Laureen was predeceased by her parents Verden and Christine Wood and sister Mary Kay.
Laureen practiced as a Social Worker for over 30 years, received her MSW in 2009 and since 2018 has been in partnership with her friend Sarah-Michelle Ogden at Transitions Counselling, Campbellford. Laureen’s interests included gardening, cross-stitch and scrapbooking and will be remembered for her passion, kindness and love of animals, especially her dogs and cats.
The family will receive friends at the Weaver Life Centre Campbellford, 77 Second Street, Campbellford on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 103 Lyle St S, Grafton, Ontario on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 11 am. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Grafton. The family would like to thank the emergency response team for the care given. If desired friends and family may make memorial contributions to The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge Canadian Mental Health Association.
