Larry Kusiak 1951 2022

Obituary of Larry Kusiak
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing at home of our beloved husband, father and grandfather on Monday January 3, 2022 at age 70. Mourned by his wife Diane (Neprily), sons Gregory and Matthew and granddaughters Madison and Kennedy. Larry leaves his sister Florence and brother Rob (June) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born and raised in St. Catharines, Larry graduated from the Collegiate and went on to study at Queens University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and an MBA. His working life was spent in various marketing and sales positions for the specialty steels industries.
Larry learned to row at the age of 14 and that soon became his passion. Winning many medals at the local, provincial and national levels, Larry also competed as a member of Canada’s team at the 1970 World Rowing Championships. He later coached many young rowers, some of whom went on to win Olympic gold for Canada.
Larry strongly believed in giving back. After retiring, he volunteered at his church on a regular basis, becoming a member of the “Holy Rollers” perogie team. He supported many charitable causes including Sick Kids, St John the Theologian Ukrainian Church and Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital.
Larry’s greatest joy was becoming a grandfather. He enjoyed indulging Madison and Kennedy and was particularly proud to teach them to swim at a very young age.
Cremation has taken place as he requested.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, April 1st 2022, at St. John the Theologian Ukrainian Church at 11:00AM with a reception to follow. Please RSVP if you wish to attend as space is limited. To reserve, please call 905-937-3393 or email at stjohnukrainian@bellnet.ca
